Cardboard boat
This Year's Theme is Space

BOAT DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION
1. Boats must pre-made and can be “fine-tuned” on site.
2. Boats must be made only of cardboard and duct tape. No reinforces cardboard tubes, only broken down cardboard boxes.
3. Cardboard cannot be sealed with any paint or sealants. Absolutely, NO use of the
following items: paint, tar based substances, two-part varnishes, fiberglass resin, epoxy
glue, any other two-part substances, or corrugated cardboard that is bond to any material.
4. Duct tape may be of varying colors for creativity, but must have come manufactured in
said color.
5. Boats may be a maximum width of 48” (4ft.) and a maximum length of 84” (7 ft.)
6. Boat design is up to the builder. Let your imagination come to life. Use of crayons and
markers to color your boat is permitted.
7. The boat’s passenger area must not be enclosed above the occupant’s shoulders so as to
interfere with escape should the vessel begin to sink.
8. Boats must be built to allow passengers to remain fully on top of the vessel (passengers
are not permitted to have dangling extremities).
9. Boats must be propelled by the use of cardboard paddles.
• Paddles must meet the same construction requirements as the boats (cardboard and duct tape only).
10. One paddle per person. Paddles may be one or two-sided.
11. All boats are subject to technical inspection for compliance with rules. All boats must pass inspection to be eligible to enter the water.

TEAMS & RACE FORMAT
1. Teams may consist of two (2) team members.
2. Team members must be between 6 - 18 years of age.
3. Teams are encouraged to dress in the theme of their boat.
4. Boats will race 1 length of the pool.
5. The race must begin and end with the crew intact.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own life jackets is possible.
