Gardening in Small Spaces

This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.

Pocket gardens can provide a wow-factor in a space with living plants in under used spaces. Special unexpected pops of color and texture can soften even the emptiest of spaces and all you need is a little bit of soil and a cranny of space. They can be planted virtually anywhere from cracks in wooden tables to empty wall spaces to corners. They are also a perfect solution for residents with small yards or balconies to decorate and, of course, adding plants to these spaces is good for the environment.

This program will show you how to get started planting your own pocket gardens. You will learn how to locate your garden, how to use clever containers, consider having a theme, and how to choose plants. There will even be a section on what to plant in shady areas. Pocket gardens are proof that big things come in small packages.

Speaker Jean Vose is a Master Gardener, certified horticulturist and former backyard beekeeper living in Danielson where she moved in 2022 from Maine. She spent the summer of 2022 restoring, renovating, and creating gardens at her new home.
